<span style="font-family: inherit;">I don’t know about you, but I can get lost in youtube pretty
easily. It’s like the black hole of the internet. SO MUCH WASTED TIME. I’m
extremely guilty. So, what else should a good upstanding citizen like myself do
but add to that miserable lovely vast ocean of video?? </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">
</span><span style="font-family: inherit;">But in all seriousness, I hope this video is just a tad bit
more helpful the cat-doing-flips-off-the-couch ones you may have watched in the
past. I present to you: 5 Simple Knitting Hacks!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">
</span><span style="font-family: inherit;">In this vid, you’ll find out how to use a bobby pin to
assist you in two of your knitting needs, as well as how to ALWAYS ensure you
have enough yarn for your long tail cast on. Also, though not <em>quite</em> a hack (I’m
stretching it just a bit), I give you a suggestion for the bestest knitting app
eva’! I never hear people talk about this particular one, so I thought I’d
include it as a hack of sorts. And you’ll have to just watch the video to
figure out the rest!</span></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I know it’s not the best quality ever, but I’m working on it! Hopefully with each video, things will get better and better until finally I’m creating <strike>viral knitting videos every single week</strike> really good content for you guys. ;)</div>

Happy new year! I hope you all had a safe & fun new year's eve!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In the spirit of all things reflective, today I'm going to be showing all of my WIPs that have been carried over from 2015 to 2016. You should know (and I'll talk about this more later) that I received a new camera for Christmas, so enjoy these beauty shots!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Let's dive in! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: x-large;">#1: Sock Yarn Crochet Blanket (incredibly long-term)</span></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcgCtFe8yCawjR-HQ4jg76d_ucTni-5aM_HabC4TZrQjnuyRtCMz1UVXcyiunhuwCVaGSGIOznxHr5TtTV7TLH7pw9iS0FE89tI5_dj7u6v3ow2DOZahrpDSCgqPTDnVrxA611tGMOsx0/s1600/IMG_5946.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcgCtFe8yCawjR-HQ4jg76d_ucTni-5aM_HabC4TZrQjnuyRtCMz1UVXcyiunhuwCVaGSGIOznxHr5TtTV7TLH7pw9iS0FE89tI5_dj7u6v3ow2DOZahrpDSCgqPTDnVrxA611tGMOsx0/s640/IMG_5946.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: x-large;"> </span></b></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For whatever reason, I have a ton of sock yarn. I've only knit actual socks out of sock yarn once so I don't know how I have amassed such a collection. I'm ok with it though because fingering weight yarn is just so pretty. The only problem is that I own <i>a lot of pretty.</i> I need to use some of it up, so I decided to crochet myself a blanket. As you can tell, it's not even close to being done (and probably won't be next new year's day either to be honest) but it's all about the process, right?</div>

<b><span style="font-size: x-large;">#2: Crochet Collar (sort of finished)</span></b></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This little darling is technically finished, but it hasn't been blocked, so I'm still calling it a Work In Progress. I got inspired by the cute collared dresses that are oh-so-trendy right now. I LOVE those things. They're so vintage looking and precious. With this pattern though, you can turn any old high-necked shirt or dress into a fashion statement. The pattern will be up next Friday!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Somehow I ended up with a bunch of scraps of Red Heart in various colors and a whole pound of red acrylic. I still, to this day, have no idea how, but I'm not complaining. This blanket was inspired by a few things. 1) <a href="http://cozymadethings.blogspot.com/2011/02/felicitys-lipstick-granny-square.html">Cozy Thing's Felicity's Lipstick Granny Blanket</a> & 2) <a href="http://www.lemondedesucrette.com/2011/04/13/love-at-first-sight-the-pattern/">Le Monde De Sucrette's Love at First Sight Hexagons</a>. Both of which I've loved for ages. </div>

Look at that gorgeousness. This one is kinda like that fingering weight blanket in the fact that it's was created out of a need to get rid of old yarn. I compiled all of my old acrylic and went to work. I only have two more colors left to go!</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's the only knitted item currently in my list of WIPs. It's my Mermaid Shawl - a knitted take on the classic crocheted crocodile stitch. I'll be releasing this pattern in February. I'm in love with it.</div>

Obviously, this doesn't come as a surprise to you; you're well aware of this fact! And with Christmas comes new years. New years, I must say, is one of my favorite "holidays" out of the year. I'm that weird person who's obsessed with productivity and time management so I love looking back on the year and reflecting on what I accomplished. I'm going to take some time today to do just that, and you get to read it! In this post you'll find the stories behind the creation of the 3 most popular patterns that I have on Ravelry. I'm measuring popularity by the number of favorites each pattern has. I think it'll be fun to look back in a few years and compare the numbers. :)<br />
<br />
Let's go!<br />

I published it August 3rd, 2013. I had NO idea it would do as well as it has. So how was it created? Well, if you look back even just a little bit on this blog, you'll see that crochet used to be my main focus. I started out as a crocheter and have slowly made my way into the knitting realm. There was one point when I was sitting right in the middle; I was just as much knitter as crocheter. I remember there was a pile of colorful yarn laying on the table (always a dangerously inspiring situation). This yarn was destined for <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/solid-granny-square-bottom-bag-crochet-tutorial">this</a> bag, the solid granny square bag, which is crocheted (picture to the left). You can get more information by clicking the link, but the simplified explanation of the construction of that crocheted bag is this: Crochet a square made in the round, increasing on each of the four corners until the base is as large as you want. Then, just stop increasing and crochet the sides straight up in the round. I loved crocheting these bags, but this particular afternoon the idea dawned on me to try knitting it. The (sort of) same construction could be applied. And ta-da! About a month later, tulip was born! It's a super simple pattern which yields an absolutely stunning how-did-you-do-that kind of result. I love it.</div>

NOTE: That's not my picture!! One of my favorite things about this pattern are the magical things that people have done with it. One of those magical things is featured above.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
This pattern was born out of necessity. It was published on February 5, 2012 (WHAT EVEN) around the time of my Japanese flower OBSESSION. I was seeing them everywhere (emphasis placed on <a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/2011/03/japanese-flower-scarf-ta-dah.html">this</a> particular post from Lucy of Attic24) and I needed to make some of my own. The problem was that I couldn't seem to find a pattern in English that looked the way I wanted it to. So I made my own by zooming in on (what else?) Pinterest photos. I think it came out quite nicely, and apparently other people think so too! Yay! Find the free pattern<a href="http://wouldyoulikeyarnwiththat.blogspot.com/2012/05/japanese-flower-motif-free-pattern.html"> right here!</a><br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJIlBImzfvUoy0Sh8cOGkeEtxw8jnO0csvMJPD1QYBIzJPbwIQHmsnjK9j5bqYfYnlixncAiZ4lozNkQyYjs7L4dVshTZoEaqRc1UvHz2x4BPSCXEnJT7JkG0bb3X1BNCrRTSBbvNMq8w/s1600/wavelengthshawlRAV.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJIlBImzfvUoy0Sh8cOGkeEtxw8jnO0csvMJPD1QYBIzJPbwIQHmsnjK9j5bqYfYnlixncAiZ4lozNkQyYjs7L4dVshTZoEaqRc1UvHz2x4BPSCXEnJT7JkG0bb3X1BNCrRTSBbvNMq8w/s1600/wavelengthshawlRAV.png" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This thing is one of my favorites. Who am I kidding; they're all my favorites, but this one holds a pretty high rank. After publishing Tulip and realizing people really enjoyed the whole "chevron" thing, I decided to play around with it some more. I knew I wanted to make a garter shawl, and I knew it had to have really inventive construction, while still being dead simple. I sat down with a pen and a fresh notebook and started doodling and playing with yarn. A few months later, I had a finished product. It was finally published on June 6th, 2014.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Also, throughout the process of knitting this, I was engrossed in the Legend trilogy by Marie Lu. If you've ever read this, you know it's dangerously addictive and heart-wrenching and beautiful and suspenseful and and and (can you tell I'm still emotionally attached??). Anyway, the navy yarn I knit the shawl with (Knit Picks' Capretta) is named "Admiral." If you've read the Legend books you know how nicely that name pairs with the storyline. I was quite pleased with myself throughout the process and I still call this the Day and June shawl in conversations sometimes. :) (Appropriately, it was published on a day in June!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There you go folks! There's a peek into how my brain works. I like taking multiple things from different creative worlds and mashing them up into one grand combo (or at least I hope it ends up grand!). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I look forward to the new year and all the patterns I'll meet :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I may or may not blog next week (bc Christmas) but I'll try to get something up for your guys!</div>

This Friday I have a little bit of knitting inspiration for ya. A while ago, I designed a few Christmas-themed fair isle charts because I wanted to try my hand at fair isle designing. Today I thought I'd share those charts with you guys! I hope you enjoy them!<br />
<br />
All four of these charts are 36 stitches x 54 rows. You can fit them into any panel of plain stockinette in any project, just as long as that panel is at least 36 stitches x 54 rows. To print them, right click on the one you want, and click "Save picture as.." Save it to your computer, then open it up and click print!<br />

I have since I was little. Besides the fiber arts, music is my absolute favorite art form. So why not combine my two favorite things?<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiw775eLiMMXjp78x38LFj5q_fwsckfTKBOvqqHa1YqC7Z1trQ1WwORMlHQ6YabLPe_4gq7vwm6hqkXdYNO7Ng-46oRIFEvMyB4niBGbHEzprg_BWIPrsSvJz6JsOyoWNPjoI-KXv5EnFw/s1600/headphone2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiw775eLiMMXjp78x38LFj5q_fwsckfTKBOvqqHa1YqC7Z1trQ1WwORMlHQ6YabLPe_4gq7vwm6hqkXdYNO7Ng-46oRIFEvMyB4niBGbHEzprg_BWIPrsSvJz6JsOyoWNPjoI-KXv5EnFw/s400/headphone2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Today I'm going to show you how I covered my headphones with knitting. Let's go!<br />
<br />
First things first: I used white Sony headphones. The exact model I used can be found <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDRZX100-Stereo-Headphones-White/dp/B004RKQM8I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1448032414&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+headphones">here</a> on Amazon for around $15. Obviously, I can't provide a tutorial that will cover ALL the headphones out there, so you may have to do a bit of customizing to fit your specific pair. This will be more of a recipe rather than a pattern.<br />
<br />
A few things to keep in mind:<br />
1) Make sure your headphones have screws visible somewhere. Otherwise, you won't be able to disassemble your headphones to cover the individual pieces.<br />
2) Ultimately, use headphones that are made of simple basic shapes, just two circles and a rectangular band. Knitting around crazy shapes can make this project pretty tough.<br />
3) If you can, use headphones that are all one color. Depending on your gauge, you may be able to see through your knitting slightly. Solid white or black will make your work look a lot cleaner.<br />
<br />
I used worsted weight yarn and a size 3 (3.25mm) needle. Wowzers, yeah, that's a pretty tight gauge. True, but it's important that you can't see through your knitting for this project. If you use 3s and can still see through your knitting, go even smaller.<br />
<br />
Let's start by taking everything apart. Use a little eyeglass screwdriver to unscrew whatever you can. You should end up with something kinda like this. (PS. DON'T LOSE THOSE SCREWS! <strike>I learned this lesson the hard way</strike> I mean, that's just <i>common sense</i>, right?)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4o_WNY-Vy4IWyp9nZ-aGLEx2owJt1KuH-ooAJDaw5-cd3p-tS41ssLoX78px2FCYwwxalNmn0kan1eE4t5-tgtEwgLeqSQTTcXHcrx4j61xgUPNhB6B8vdY25pcN4RU6d7h520GfP_js/s1600/IMG_5528.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4o_WNY-Vy4IWyp9nZ-aGLEx2owJt1KuH-ooAJDaw5-cd3p-tS41ssLoX78px2FCYwwxalNmn0kan1eE4t5-tgtEwgLeqSQTTcXHcrx4j61xgUPNhB6B8vdY25pcN4RU6d7h520GfP_js/s320/IMG_5528.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Let's cover the band first. I cast on 16 stitches <b>provisionally</b> and knit in the round. You'll want to cast on as many as will fit snugly around your band without stretching too much. Knit this tube until it's as long as your band, plus like a quarter inch. Don't bind off. Rather, thread some strong fingering weight yarn through those top stitches. I'd suggest cotton or linen. :) You'll want to use this same yarn for your provisional cast on. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmjO7YyoNDqL2vMSnniBrTobbT8rDTcVsKPz1bgJS7jCxyi7auUY3YrJ_zl-aHGaG_DJ1DIC6MW24V0XcE5u3E6LYsdj0YUxC9L67kiI4Me-IPU39xHxOaeF8bm6kDhRJiEayPvSA-474/s1600/headphone1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="105" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmjO7YyoNDqL2vMSnniBrTobbT8rDTcVsKPz1bgJS7jCxyi7auUY3YrJ_zl-aHGaG_DJ1DIC6MW24V0XcE5u3E6LYsdj0YUxC9L67kiI4Me-IPU39xHxOaeF8bm6kDhRJiEayPvSA-474/s640/headphone1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
Now we're going to knit 2 octagons that will cover the round ear parts of the headphones (because octagons are easier to knit that circles!).<br />
<b>Note:</b> If you're doing any sort of fair isle pattern on the ear circle, duplicate stitch it. Otherwise, it'll be upside down! :) Again, there's that <i>common sense</i> shining through! ;)<br />
Pattern (make 2):<br />
CO 8<br />
Row 1: p1, yo, p across to last stitch, yo, p1<br />
Row 2: k1, yo, k across to last stitch, yo, k1<br />
Row 3: p1, yo, p across to last stitch, yo p1<br />
In row 4, we're going to yarn over in the middle of the row (and then knit it regularly on the next row) to create a hole for the place the band connects to the ear puff. That sounds really confusing, but bear with me. <br />
Row 4: k1, yo, k5, yo twice, k5, yo, k1<br />
Row 5: p1, yo, p to yo, drop 1 wrap of the yo, p2tog (the yarn over and the stitch next to it), p to last stitch, yo, p1<br />
Repeat rows 2 & 3 until your piece is as wide as your earphone circle plus a little bit. I went until I had 26 stitches. Then, <b>work straight stockinette for a few rows</b> (I did 7) just to add a little height.<br />
End with a purl row. <br />
Row 6: k1, k2tog, k across to last 3 stitches, k2tog, k1<br />
Row 7: p1, p2tog, p across to last 3 stitches, p2tog, p1 <br />
Repeat rows 6 & 7 until you have 10 stitches left.<br />
Now we're going to create a little slit in the top of our octagon so that we have a space for where the wire comes out of the ear. <br />
Row 8: p1, p2tog, p2, <b>drop yarn, continue row with tail end of ball</b>, p2, p2tog, p1<br />
Row 9: *k2, pass 1st stitch over 2nd, k1, pass stitch over, k1, pass stitch over, cut yarn and pull through final loop,* pick up original strand of yarn and repeat the steps within the asterisks.<br />
<br />
Ok. All the knitting is done!<br />
We'll start by covering the circle parts. There are 3 steps to this process:<br />
1) Glue down any movable parts on the headphone.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2Wj3I6fNq0D9TQQMsqkYbOlRJlMGf2pOwwK11bOGX-2LBJlPDFNcgYVcRhcfqsGV5kyLR6LitOgCkizbtrpZflooJ36Hw0KQ-Z-uIyyaWeKULj4Wc0HDcFb6ym0fBFaZ5eIKdU9mJ7IU/s1600/IMG_5529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2Wj3I6fNq0D9TQQMsqkYbOlRJlMGf2pOwwK11bOGX-2LBJlPDFNcgYVcRhcfqsGV5kyLR6LitOgCkizbtrpZflooJ36Hw0KQ-Z-uIyyaWeKULj4Wc0HDcFb6ym0fBFaZ5eIKdU9mJ7IU/s200/IMG_5529.JPG" width="150" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbVHRFEKkgUdrzPHw5EV74s0HoSqRC5ZDazFiPPaQha2Y0oetMk9QxqgmIjgHOPjugoqreozy2sOSGz4dtXR9Vb7medAkNiOITED1OEhP3dq7faFX_IxRWF4jSBXwI5zwce5EfshdlHtM/s1600/IMG_5530.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbVHRFEKkgUdrzPHw5EV74s0HoSqRC5ZDazFiPPaQha2Y0oetMk9QxqgmIjgHOPjugoqreozy2sOSGz4dtXR9Vb7medAkNiOITED1OEhP3dq7faFX_IxRWF4jSBXwI5zwce5EfshdlHtM/s200/IMG_5530.JPG" width="150" /></a></div>
<br />
2) Place your knitted piece onto the headphone by tying the slit around the wire spot and popping the yarn-over space onto the plastic bit at the top.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1GI9e0YhPf1Nep1gjr40Z4Op2pHlOVjN5sCNceJyvJI7-20iPyWazU-mBNd5JuhMHJmxtvdqwd4xQ6xWgnhvLJX9yKI1CFWj1sNwKsYs71c2e6uWTEA_a2e-rqZIooDgpJCPE_chqrJo/s1600/IMG_5574.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1GI9e0YhPf1Nep1gjr40Z4Op2pHlOVjN5sCNceJyvJI7-20iPyWazU-mBNd5JuhMHJmxtvdqwd4xQ6xWgnhvLJX9yKI1CFWj1sNwKsYs71c2e6uWTEA_a2e-rqZIooDgpJCPE_chqrJo/s200/IMG_5574.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSSwXYCP4ff7ap5EyPNPVF0i8WdWa5No79sHZb58JUxM13gDj00ziO7AExtdmE0yBUuw2rVQk1UGkIQM0icy4cEP84qZ1LMW0pAklYKNyo3rgIn50EtTKETzsEHV-QkPTlNSOsdrKspZ4/s1600/IMG_5573.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSSwXYCP4ff7ap5EyPNPVF0i8WdWa5No79sHZb58JUxM13gDj00ziO7AExtdmE0yBUuw2rVQk1UGkIQM0icy4cEP84qZ1LMW0pAklYKNyo3rgIn50EtTKETzsEHV-QkPTlNSOsdrKspZ4/s200/IMG_5573.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
3) Notice the little space in between the hard plastic of the headphone and the ear puff (for lack of a better term). Use a flat, thin object (I'm suggesting a knife but PLEASE BE CAREFUL. Only an adult should be doing that!) to shove the knitting into that little space. You really don't need glue! It's gonna be a tight fit. And since we aren't using glue, you can give your headphones a makeover as many times as you want!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimjuirynl6CzXM3GuFDHPxLuxyQ1xv-mvkrAKy3gN6WdNQttn0RZJySMXRXf171_Kclu3fb1jWwXT16L0WbWhkA1I85gxQKGmI8PBM_D8NwWYyVNUbf_Fk9SEvWxTTWcc69SacavCFmJE/s1600/IMG_5575.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimjuirynl6CzXM3GuFDHPxLuxyQ1xv-mvkrAKy3gN6WdNQttn0RZJySMXRXf171_Kclu3fb1jWwXT16L0WbWhkA1I85gxQKGmI8PBM_D8NwWYyVNUbf_Fk9SEvWxTTWcc69SacavCFmJE/s320/IMG_5575.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
All right, you should now have this!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDndaDakVgk6k6nEwkxxgtvQBnR4Qd5jY5EppboPKwqzouUuKi7HkelmyyIV53npTG4D4mtqNZ2u-kBdTKCFJa_GWdvKlhgvc8LitoGtXwh16r_C1ihUaNxhyvTEm2dqr1lCshtIW2E9o/s1600/IMG_5576.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDndaDakVgk6k6nEwkxxgtvQBnR4Qd5jY5EppboPKwqzouUuKi7HkelmyyIV53npTG4D4mtqNZ2u-kBdTKCFJa_GWdvKlhgvc8LitoGtXwh16r_C1ihUaNxhyvTEm2dqr1lCshtIW2E9o/s320/IMG_5576.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Ok, the rest is pretty self-explanatory. Slide the band into the knitted tube, pop your ear buds back on, and screw it all back together. Oh! Remember that cotton we put into the ends of the knitted tube? You can use that string to gather up the tube around where the band connects to ear phones. This will give a nice, finished look.<br />
<br />
Boom! All done!<br />
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Feel free to leave comments, questions, and suggestions in the comments below.<br />
See you next Friday!<br />

Today I have a tutorial for you. <br />
The past few days I've been playing around with graph paper. I know,
that sounds like SO much fun, right? Actually, yes! I'm working on some
free fair isle Christmas stocking patterns I'll be releasing. I'll be
posting some how-to-work-fair-isle videos to go along with those
patterns on my youtube channel. It's gonna be awesome people!<br />
<br />
<b>QUICK NOTE: </b>I found this super awesome resource for all you fair-isle designers out there. Over on the lovely blog <a href="http://www.laylock.org/blog/">Laylock Knitwear Design</a> you can find free printable graph paper specifically designed for knitters. Instead of squares, the chart is filled with little knit stitches in perfect rows. This will give you a better idea of what the final product will look like as you're designing. Super helpful! Find the graph paper <a href="http://www.laylock.org/blog/2013/02/knitting-on-paper/">here.</a><br />
<br />
Anyway, in order to put the design I created into a PDF for Ravelry, I
needed to digitize my pencil-and-paper chart. Whether to have a "professional" copy of your chart for personal use or to create a download for Ravelry, you'll need to digitize it. Here's how I created my
fair isle chart using Microsoft Excel 2010 on my PC:<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCa5uorBGuslZcKdSQuXvP8deGne9B3bTNN01pWGDzF7lSq7oot9iCdbocyPpwaa6bejkyGwTA2zfVHXfOxkuy6IiYvB5iXa87-onvVG0nrvxSzf5-TNcJ79YuNaFvaaS7xXEb3QM5c24O/s1600/excel2.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="288" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCa5uorBGuslZcKdSQuXvP8deGne9B3bTNN01pWGDzF7lSq7oot9iCdbocyPpwaa6bejkyGwTA2zfVHXfOxkuy6IiYvB5iXa87-onvVG0nrvxSzf5-TNcJ79YuNaFvaaS7xXEb3QM5c24O/s400/excel2.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The very first thing you'll need to do when you open Excel is alter the
cells so that they're a bit more square-ish. They're fairly long
rectangles by default and that won't work for us today. We need these boxes to replicate the shape of a knit stitch. So, click on the
triangle in the corner (indicated by the red arrow above) to select all
the cells (all the cells will turn blue), then drag the cells to 3.00 (or 26 pixels). (To drag, hover
your mouse in between the "A" and "B" and a little toggle will appear.
Click and hold to drag!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjduzuTcyY3PLgU-497HM6dP9MUD6UqWEQZ3kEeTiVYdPhF4UgHPu2tq_TyaU4x75T-uId7A0rfT1xOV6WABxUDQZ4Po8m-H6S1MAttFFrRkevPv-NXt5mvc4SFmKmKAPZ7k6byVdrNbVZ0/s1600/excel3.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjduzuTcyY3PLgU-497HM6dP9MUD6UqWEQZ3kEeTiVYdPhF4UgHPu2tq_TyaU4x75T-uId7A0rfT1xOV6WABxUDQZ4Po8m-H6S1MAttFFrRkevPv-NXt5mvc4SFmKmKAPZ7k6byVdrNbVZ0/s400/excel3.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Now that your cells are the size of stitches, you can begin filling them
in to create your design. To do this, right click on any cell, and
click the paint bucket. You can click the tiny little triangle next to
the paint bucket to change the default color. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-f25Cx9G9YGYv6GRh4B6kBiAgi5W8gfYX1hmOeH4_rQT5_W1nQrzyykuR-Y3selaUUmYDpv5puXrAOlR0E6b_LDkKvGTeu7BIw3SNyJ9QbxYLblq0ptcxi6rIFNRAuWvJgUOkYMNVDJlW/s1600/excel4.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="211" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-f25Cx9G9YGYv6GRh4B6kBiAgi5W8gfYX1hmOeH4_rQT5_W1nQrzyykuR-Y3selaUUmYDpv5puXrAOlR0E6b_LDkKvGTeu7BIw3SNyJ9QbxYLblq0ptcxi6rIFNRAuWvJgUOkYMNVDJlW/s400/excel4.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
While you're in the process of designing, you can use the slider (down
in the right corner) to zoom out and see how it's lookin'. :) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH8QjrV0QrPkTr8efgWoPfDzSlxW2G7rfGVS1Ag0wdOdpdSHgYKpgn6Xv8xkBC4csbqJeJ9BzN86i4NgZRyrd_vk-Ihzmx2jBcpEFhTW_T2-vRdj4LHaX01NDSs9286N5vyczmkfs074PR/s1600/excel5.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH8QjrV0QrPkTr8efgWoPfDzSlxW2G7rfGVS1Ag0wdOdpdSHgYKpgn6Xv8xkBC4csbqJeJ9BzN86i4NgZRyrd_vk-Ihzmx2jBcpEFhTW_T2-vRdj4LHaX01NDSs9286N5vyczmkfs074PR/s400/excel5.png" width="340" /></a></div>
<br />
Once you're all done, you'll need to add some black grid lines so your
chart is easy for people to read. To do this, you'll need to select your
entire design by clicking the top left corner and dragging all the
way down to the bottom right. Again, the cells will all turn blue.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimdM8klG-xzq_1QQ1cElsiYFjMaO5vesVLhqMnpnYwOFcSbSo7_osf-QspAl1gu5G4RmUVeRCAP8W-kLum-lGvt-eschrCNgIKjyrScfTgjzvQ2R2iNdpUBW7JMKWGWLq1gKxTDVhO0hHU/s1600/excel6.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimdM8klG-xzq_1QQ1cElsiYFjMaO5vesVLhqMnpnYwOFcSbSo7_osf-QspAl1gu5G4RmUVeRCAP8W-kLum-lGvt-eschrCNgIKjyrScfTgjzvQ2R2iNdpUBW7JMKWGWLq1gKxTDVhO0hHU/s400/excel6.png" width="303" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once you have your design selected, click the little square/window type thing in the task
bar, then select "All Borders." Boom! Chart made! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, in order to save
it as a picture file, you'll need to select it all again (click and drag
from corner to corner) and then copy it (by right clicking and

Then, open Paint (a program that comes standard on most PCs), click the
paste button, and your chart will appear! Then, click the little floppy
disk up in the corner to save it as your desired file type, and you're
done!<br />
Here's a quick tip: to see how your chart would look repeated, select your entire chart, copy it, and then paste it multiple times. Be sure to zoom out (using that toggle) to get the big picture.<br />
<br />
How awesome is that?! Creating these charts is my new obsession. It's so satisfying to print them out and see them all nice and professional looking.<br />
I'll talk with you guys again Friday!<br />
Until then,<br />

<br />
I was first inspired to create this headband when I came across <a href="http://www.frenchpressknits.com/2011/01/plaited-headwrap-for-selfish-knitting.html">this</a> (Rav link <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/anthro-style-plaited-head-wrap">here</a>) headband
pattern. It's basically the same exact idea, just crocheted. I wanted to
make a ton of them for Christmas presents, but knitting (the original was knitted) took too long in
this case (bc procrastination), so I decided to crochet them. <b>I just want to be clear:</b> ALL of the credit for this ingenious idea goes to <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/designers/melynda-bernardi">Melynda Bernardi</a> who created the original knitted version! But for all you crocheters out there, I hope this helps :)<br />
<br />
<div style="border-image: none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
Also, if you're a knitter who's been wanting to get into crochet, I'd
highly recommend starting here. It's seriously SO simple, and by the
time you get to the end, you'll have perfected your tension. Plus,
you'll have a beautiful headband to show for it!</div>
<div style="border-image: none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Ok, I've photographed a tutorial for the beginner crocheter, but if
you've already mastered all this, I'll type the condensed pattern at the very
end of the post.</b><br />
<br />Let's get started!</div>
<div style="border-image: none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
Materials:</div>
<div style="border-image: none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
1 skein of worsted weight yarn (100 grams)</div>
<div style="border-image: none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
Size G (4mm) crochet hook<br />
Darning needle for weaving in ends</div>
<div style="border-image: none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="border-image: none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
Let's start out with a slip knot:</div>
<div style="border-image: none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="border-image: none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="border-image: none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgV11qJ7M_deYNI5cXM0gAnrlovm_H38gEbXKX7C_mdjX3bZWjyJrYxVzdLU3lK690q4BIvD3iWhXqLrxzxdQEaToNUBrNOgZsAb986jpolii6Qq0ZCqpXbmGNR7ler7cIZVe2Y8uOwaEKK/s1600/IMG_5159.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgV11qJ7M_deYNI5cXM0gAnrlovm_H38gEbXKX7C_mdjX3bZWjyJrYxVzdLU3lK690q4BIvD3iWhXqLrxzxdQEaToNUBrNOgZsAb986jpolii6Qq0ZCqpXbmGNR7ler7cIZVe2Y8uOwaEKK/s320/IMG_5159.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Arrange your yarn tail so that you have a loop, then lay that loop over the tail end. It should look like the above picture.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB5upIILPfR2eTEyZtlrUW5_D8jreVEBMl_mzQiXhT9Hp5RQ-N4z9Wojq_yyE0qIgvaKC9SV4EwZRP2RhFK3RKGbx6cHxc5FAivVDyYHd4Rkq8FUABI2mmU9cSEKSWreG8ATrMeZ9-WqiN/s1600/IMG_5161.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB5upIILPfR2eTEyZtlrUW5_D8jreVEBMl_mzQiXhT9Hp5RQ-N4z9Wojq_yyE0qIgvaKC9SV4EwZRP2RhFK3RKGbx6cHxc5FAivVDyYHd4Rkq8FUABI2mmU9cSEKSWreG8ATrMeZ9-WqiN/s320/IMG_5161.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="border-image: none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="" style="border-image: none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then, pick up your tail end with your hook, like so.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLQ-YKBUKRE2XPb4dXTaZmHUJtygx7cZ7OWwmkSV9q3XBck7gx0jpUL3lG40KVWVeVeRhobZGjlW9oHbb-oZ0y7aqHjIaDSaPhvO48LA6f1LCpkYflBlRVZx3qIy8CHp2XhVp7z_Z1hCzX/s1600/IMG_5162.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLQ-YKBUKRE2XPb4dXTaZmHUJtygx7cZ7OWwmkSV9q3XBck7gx0jpUL3lG40KVWVeVeRhobZGjlW9oHbb-oZ0y7aqHjIaDSaPhvO48LA6f1LCpkYflBlRVZx3qIy8CHp2XhVp7z_Z1hCzX/s320/IMG_5162.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then pull on both ends so that your knot tightens against your hook. If
it's a bit loose, tug on the tail end and slide the knot up snug to your
hook.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now we'll learn to chain:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglUgDitQ59uv-Agdf_mFpMZ2AxzNoUgJ9ky0__u-lYTqg3WMhm8fzElQhEP5i4OPeOXQRwvM0uNXvm5f-El0UQdmyM9NwMNZFFZ7xC9A9oYe09m7u9eOSk-r3twJsGvLJgCsuGTgsS-EKo/s1600/IMG_5179.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglUgDitQ59uv-Agdf_mFpMZ2AxzNoUgJ9ky0__u-lYTqg3WMhm8fzElQhEP5i4OPeOXQRwvM0uNXvm5f-El0UQdmyM9NwMNZFFZ7xC9A9oYe09m7u9eOSk-r3twJsGvLJgCsuGTgsS-EKo/s320/IMG_5179.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Wrap your yarn once around your left pinky finger and hold your hook in your right hand like above.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFv2IaBAa9oEtFTFGYrt9TcFjoK4ZPFoO9dOAEVMccaeglKrBmVhdbl39RxC-3FFZsMaEGrzbHhB4JVVxipNHWkM6CEAQcUF1KX6xPw2SaiJ-_viEcWMq9ODabOfQ1iZyRBeJG6l845hXO/s1600/IMG_5181.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFv2IaBAa9oEtFTFGYrt9TcFjoK4ZPFoO9dOAEVMccaeglKrBmVhdbl39RxC-3FFZsMaEGrzbHhB4JVVxipNHWkM6CEAQcUF1KX6xPw2SaiJ-_viEcWMq9ODabOfQ1iZyRBeJG6l845hXO/s320/IMG_5181.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now place the hook part of your hook under the yarn and then behind it, so it catches in the notch of your hook.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGuB0aF52sAMYGJaRQmG2Icez1y8ewX15bbEnPRF072q4MLESb5RcrvEXvv9H1fYi9JfWXuq5JrFfTY-zHalvdjDlJp0A3tO1HMJoK3AS0pOkeVFRA8YfE4ty6uVxPY1sllqzxdYQc3Q23/s1600/IMG_5182.JPG" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGuB0aF52sAMYGJaRQmG2Icez1y8ewX15bbEnPRF072q4MLESb5RcrvEXvv9H1fYi9JfWXuq5JrFfTY-zHalvdjDlJp0A3tO1HMJoK3AS0pOkeVFRA8YfE4ty6uVxPY1sllqzxdYQc3Q23/s200/IMG_5182.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYaWepH8zIVi_lbZJLwZyWOWZG2gCP3kRzOZs-brscfkDV9o-ips7Ri9DFyXwEGsSHpfm9nmFrGH9_4VBLnlmlZjmob_amcevmK7876JrQ4iCIeVW3LeQVSX1QcITyWTltKxqVWGQstyFH/s1600/IMG_5184.JPG" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYaWepH8zIVi_lbZJLwZyWOWZG2gCP3kRzOZs-brscfkDV9o-ips7Ri9DFyXwEGsSHpfm9nmFrGH9_4VBLnlmlZjmob_amcevmK7876JrQ4iCIeVW3LeQVSX1QcITyWTltKxqVWGQstyFH/s200/IMG_5184.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtctMU3O0L5RJd9-Z-qR1XuWs4Yw8VhzNCK0N48h_Zuot-2Ro1f5qDjwm03NUMRv-qJiAIJpA2wnl7wyGo2dHXjKWSDxgKzgAFktMpIIuVeKuPK_dR2W0eK6HHKnfS0Mcs0FBY7tpOSdny/s1600/IMG_5183.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtctMU3O0L5RJd9-Z-qR1XuWs4Yw8VhzNCK0N48h_Zuot-2Ro1f5qDjwm03NUMRv-qJiAIJpA2wnl7wyGo2dHXjKWSDxgKzgAFktMpIIuVeKuPK_dR2W0eK6HHKnfS0Mcs0FBY7tpOSdny/s200/IMG_5183.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then gently rotate your hook so the "hook" part faces down and slides
through the loop on your hook easily (boom! you just made 1 chain!).
That rotation is key. If you don't do that, the hook won't glide through your slip knot smoothly, instead, it'll catch.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZJKQnL1b9frM1jG5eLWYHe0Igy6ZIRYNHj2Eo7xFHDsSDPEaqKnEmFZULVT5MpH2AAA9zaJMGOHweaz5r3P4PsIIJ1Jz4yAjRay5n3XPTk4kVhvnXqFY_1hHuz8C_fATNxNpKq2r86Um7/s1600/IMG_5185.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZJKQnL1b9frM1jG5eLWYHe0Igy6ZIRYNHj2Eo7xFHDsSDPEaqKnEmFZULVT5MpH2AAA9zaJMGOHweaz5r3P4PsIIJ1Jz4yAjRay5n3XPTk4kVhvnXqFY_1hHuz8C_fATNxNpKq2r86Um7/s200/IMG_5185.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqZ3wMw2nPGj3BWNPM1McJ6ug_Wuq97LBOkBAc-h12MaDy_7epme5MXfE_11KTMIDUvYDNFDwn7Pc8nl3xXfDV3Kn1ctpzVp2R__LXeE5eLKDMG12Ft7asU0km8DM47_-gGxMJHsoQalbU/s1600/image2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqZ3wMw2nPGj3BWNPM1McJ6ug_Wuq97LBOkBAc-h12MaDy_7epme5MXfE_11KTMIDUvYDNFDwn7Pc8nl3xXfDV3Kn1ctpzVp2R__LXeE5eLKDMG12Ft7asU0km8DM47_-gGxMJHsoQalbU/s200/image2.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ok, now you're going to make 14 more chains. If you lose count, look at those little v's. Each one is a chain. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, we're going to learn the Half Double Crochet stitch. The rest of your headband will be made up of these things :)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7VBPaTQ0bRzaXGe3ufByfR-1-5UrfMr2Ko-w0zhAD9MqdcTzijoFVxb3SZSudVrpWUhEDSPdb11r0Grgg_oBY5nN5Y5LAEMJ8Ztfa-h01CIYcCe1WtsSO0g1YHzFJdXj4nXcL-WeVMH8d/s1600/IMG_5188.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7VBPaTQ0bRzaXGe3ufByfR-1-5UrfMr2Ko-w0zhAD9MqdcTzijoFVxb3SZSudVrpWUhEDSPdb11r0Grgg_oBY5nN5Y5LAEMJ8Ztfa-h01CIYcCe1WtsSO0g1YHzFJdXj4nXcL-WeVMH8d/s320/IMG_5188.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ok, first, wrap the yarn around your hook as if you were going to make another chain, but don't pull it through! Instead...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvKKG_5Wsk_pQTjAMRDiLrGZ2Dn3Z7LCkgfPZKhAx54sI1_0dRw0t2EKiKlzeGzvGeQ9T_IqxMGRFt-ymA1SjpJXAI2xR1RrvIonNcd8MRYI25HTFuwCYLJplS06zoFsUYA4sZQfwOuW94/s1600/IMG_5191.JPG" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvKKG_5Wsk_pQTjAMRDiLrGZ2Dn3Z7LCkgfPZKhAx54sI1_0dRw0t2EKiKlzeGzvGeQ9T_IqxMGRFt-ymA1SjpJXAI2xR1RrvIonNcd8MRYI25HTFuwCYLJplS06zoFsUYA4sZQfwOuW94/s200/IMG_5191.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEmQJf3Kw33Iui4DBnJfz8zOuj0g6kxuLZUt-8Fobr76a0dwWcpUAEe04krN4qWcJWbtKc65RMoXKCxygjvI1HasNaw09ODOCxyXzwUHX8xxx4fNuzJLqwMnLMjYk8H73cx7W62Jao3Axx/s1600/IMG_5189.JPG" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEmQJf3Kw33Iui4DBnJfz8zOuj0g6kxuLZUt-8Fobr76a0dwWcpUAEe04krN4qWcJWbtKc65RMoXKCxygjvI1HasNaw09ODOCxyXzwUHX8xxx4fNuzJLqwMnLMjYk8H73cx7W62Jao3Axx/s200/IMG_5189.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOiMAGI2He7xZ0mcvf9byHlcRV_SNeSyQWNQ4aV4Qj3KfZmPWbw2bLYeGrX2IsrxERElVl16gclaOK3ltv6T5AURSQ7Gy9qhxoMK5Pi-Ysm93z8kqbrgmlxcsJteKbhyphenhyphenBE6FqMsIrVLAM8/s1600/IMG_5190.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOiMAGI2He7xZ0mcvf9byHlcRV_SNeSyQWNQ4aV4Qj3KfZmPWbw2bLYeGrX2IsrxERElVl16gclaOK3ltv6T5AURSQ7Gy9qhxoMK5Pi-Ysm93z8kqbrgmlxcsJteKbhyphenhyphenBE6FqMsIrVLAM8/s200/IMG_5190.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
...insert your hook in the 3rd chain from the hook. So out of your
15 chains, you'll be putting your hook in the 13th one you made. With
your hook inserted, grab the yarn with your hook and pull it back up out
of that chain.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
You should now have 3 loops on your hook.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now yarn over (as if you were going to chain), and pull this yarn through all three loops on your hook. Ta-da! One
Half Double Crochet created! (Just a note: Half Double Crochet is
normally abbreviated as HDC in most crochet patterns) Ok. Now do another one of those in the next chain.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now this part can be confusing: How do you know where to insert your hook next? Where exactly is the next chain?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lemme show ya:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4aHvngWx9q7IMK6_3nDLwdpcet7p0NpvQUkfnSfvWnfd3q7mwT15G81AqhRhTfKiLIw834d8ajpu6Lf6f_X0MZBnl2Eejj6FO_QhYtL5XVbq21rfRKjbvOgup0NArcy-s-526gK957B5k/s1600/image3.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4aHvngWx9q7IMK6_3nDLwdpcet7p0NpvQUkfnSfvWnfd3q7mwT15G81AqhRhTfKiLIw834d8ajpu6Lf6f_X0MZBnl2Eejj6FO_QhYtL5XVbq21rfRKjbvOgup0NArcy-s-526gK957B5k/s320/image3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
That orange bit is NOT where you're inserting your hook next. A lot of
people make that mistake when just starting out. It's perfectly
understandable! But if you look closer, you'll notice that's the chain
you just put your HDC into. Rather, you're going into that pink chain.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkEC4NzAEk1wR_u_PA7YEg4qMAyicHAAEIinMWaCPJKiaVqu4jmmNR_vfmoL0RKe9_fgwD3rRukQM_W8CL4Ttr5CEQwgoz31ZQ6ZRpEpuzgGE8Mca5uJjpI48EtJiSqXrAUOoTYMV-a0R8/s1600/IMG_5201.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkEC4NzAEk1wR_u_PA7YEg4qMAyicHAAEIinMWaCPJKiaVqu4jmmNR_vfmoL0RKe9_fgwD3rRukQM_W8CL4Ttr5CEQwgoz31ZQ6ZRpEpuzgGE8Mca5uJjpI48EtJiSqXrAUOoTYMV-a0R8/s320/IMG_5201.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Now you're going to do 1 Half Double Crochet in each chain across (you'll have 13 HDCs total).<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIwQsHBvwfQ4eomQr3TfqsYWtJXypaKZ83TuJH1T_uiWFH-p8nomfgfjBHIQROJ4o1LUO1vetQevWa9lcNJ33FslPqIL90EH7qtMMVW3JSDAZqzYCNJeqJkBfygFAkO1tDS4pM6lYB-kqS/s1600/IMG_5202.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIwQsHBvwfQ4eomQr3TfqsYWtJXypaKZ83TuJH1T_uiWFH-p8nomfgfjBHIQROJ4o1LUO1vetQevWa9lcNJ33FslPqIL90EH7qtMMVW3JSDAZqzYCNJeqJkBfygFAkO1tDS4pM6lYB-kqS/s320/IMG_5202.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
OK. Now we're going to join your little strip so that we're working "in
the round." You're going to do 1 HDC in the very first HDC you made.
Basically just bend your strip backwards so your first HDC faces you.
Wrap your hook, insert your hook into the "v" on top of that first
stitch, draw up a loop, and complete your HDC as normal. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
HDC finished! </div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Okie dokie! Now you're just going to do an HDC in the next stitch (the
pink stitch in the picture above shows you where to put your hook next)
and the next stitch and the next stitch.... And so on until you have a
tube 72 inches long. (182 centimeters)
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once you have your loooooong tube: snip your yarn leaving an 8 inch
tail, pass this tail through the final loop on your hook, tighten, and
continue on:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiib7vUp-wEScOGgLRS7QVfYwikHnyOoaYISSSPpLtPuvtO72tRvNzYVVqnxrzg5p68apD4UHTzU8_5wzVJNcdt9aafEkwbvSZjSXbw6WBaQ2yHegCYyq1FysTEO0h4aI6ywoUyM04M3GBD/s1600/IMG_5163.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiib7vUp-wEScOGgLRS7QVfYwikHnyOoaYISSSPpLtPuvtO72tRvNzYVVqnxrzg5p68apD4UHTzU8_5wzVJNcdt9aafEkwbvSZjSXbw6WBaQ2yHegCYyq1FysTEO0h4aI6ywoUyM04M3GBD/s320/IMG_5163.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Wrap the end of your loop around your head and use a locking stitch
marker to "pin" at that point (this should be about 1/3 of your tube).</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3jxxAKL8U7qea9hV_pasZLdMvc7qHYRFvTE_ojiAvoxkBNnMSIl7WAXmor3ArokgtIiUPqlBn_ohFM2QasrmqQed_Nq8Ymmy0I8XFXQZnwTcqQXGl-5iWXjDwgaINt9GxJ6ZDdlcSonOg/s1600/IMG_5165.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3jxxAKL8U7qea9hV_pasZLdMvc7qHYRFvTE_ojiAvoxkBNnMSIl7WAXmor3ArokgtIiUPqlBn_ohFM2QasrmqQed_Nq8Ymmy0I8XFXQZnwTcqQXGl-5iWXjDwgaINt9GxJ6ZDdlcSonOg/s320/IMG_5165.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now you're going to criss-cross the next 3rd of your tube across the circle you just made, pinning as you go.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Just keep criss-crossing all the way around, until it looks like this:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRa14qrB4jbUbxh65xCuFsvFDG9NbuIhuysfh-FlgKiWXCLqlBCLQXkBZz5y48Y2yHSbsrI0Q7f3aU8fic6f7yOSkiSbwL3DkXe3LzQClx87plG_IEMb2sT2hnEyMDUOBp3cSVSgZbxOvY/s1600/IMG_5168.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRa14qrB4jbUbxh65xCuFsvFDG9NbuIhuysfh-FlgKiWXCLqlBCLQXkBZz5y48Y2yHSbsrI0Q7f3aU8fic6f7yOSkiSbwL3DkXe3LzQClx87plG_IEMb2sT2hnEyMDUOBp3cSVSgZbxOvY/s320/IMG_5168.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now we'll take the last 3rd of your tube and weave it through so this thing starts looking more like a braid!</div>
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Take the end of your tube and pull it up through the first hole created by criss-crossing. Oooh! I see a baby braid forming! </div>
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ok, now do the same thing again with the next space. Bring the end of your tube up through that hole in between markers.<br />
</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Continue weaving in this manner. It may take a couple tries to get this
right, but keep persevering! You'll get it. :) When finished weaving,
the ends of your tube should meet up. Use your tail yarn ends to seam
the tube together. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Also, if you're having serious trouble, I'd recommend looking at the

All right. For all those crochet experts out there, <b>here's the condensed pattern:</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ch 15</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Row 1: HDC in 3rd ch from hook and each chain across (13 HDCs)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Join to work in the round by doing one HDC in the first HDC of row 1. You will <b>not</b> join rounds with a slip stitch. To avoid the seam that would be created with slip stitches, we'll just spiral up instead. HDC
around (and around and around and around some more) until you have a tube 72 inches (182 cm) long.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now scroll on this page until you see the yarn color change from blue to yellow and follow the construction instructions from there.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope you all liked this pattern! Again, go check out <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/designers/melynda-bernardi">Melynda Bernardi</a> at <a href="http://www.frenchpressknits.com/">French Press Knits</a>. She's an awesome designer and I give her full credit for the original idea. ♥</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And also, if you're not about the crochet life, check my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/IdLikeYarnWithThat">Etsy Shop</a> to buy a physical headband. I have some of my knitting patterns up there as well if you want to take a peek. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
See you all next Friday!</div>

being sported on the sidelines… Or the non-knitter’s version at least! And even though football's over for the year, winter certainly isn't! <br />
These hats, topped with a pom-pom, are very popular among players and
fans alike. You can knit it using your high school, college, or
favorite national team’s colors; or just play with color however you
like.<br />
This pattern includes instructions on how to make a sideline beanie
of your very own. The stripe pattern
is the exact same sequence as you would find on the ones you see on TV. Also included are directions to make the
pom-pom, and a little knit-as-you-go trick to create a neat, tidy,
folded hem on the brim without sewing.<br />
This hat is knit in the round, with a special reverse stockinette
brim, but there’s not a single purl stitch required. You will need 3
colors of lace weight yarn, but don’t worry, it’s thick, warm, and knits
up quickly using the technique in the pattern.<br />
You can also check out <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sideline-beanie">the Ravelry page for this pattern </a>if you would like a free PDF download!<br />
<br />
Ok, without further ado, here's the pattern! <br />

the cast on, directly below (10 rows below) the stitch you’re about to knit.
Pop this strand onto your left needle, and knit it together with your next stitch.
Do this all the way around, picking up cast on loops corresponding with your
current stitch, and knitting them into your current row.</span></i></div>

a pom-pom for the top of your hat. To do this, you can use a pom-pom maker, or
do it the old fashioned way. In order to do it without a pom-pom maker, wrap
colors A and B held together around a 4-inch square of cardboard loosely. The
more you wrap, the fluffier your pop-pom. Once you have your desired thickness,
carefully slide the bundle off the cardboard, taking care to keep it from
falling apart. Now double knot a 12-inch length of yarn (doubled, so it doesn’t
snap when you tighten the knot) around the center of your bundle, creating
loops on either side.</span> <span style="color: #262626; font-family: "Corbel","sans-serif"; mso-themecolor: text1; mso-themetint: 217;">Use your scissors to snip
all of these loops. You can use your 12-inch length of yarn to attach your
pom-pom to your hat later, so don’t cut these ends short. Fluff your pom-pom
and give it a “haircut” to make it nice and round and uniform. Use the ends
from earlier to attach your pom-pom to your hat.</span></div>

</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The shape of this bag reminded me of a tulip, hence the name.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This gorgeous bag features the timeless craft of the log cabin quilt square, however, combining it with the modern trend of the chevron pattern. It’s the perfect pattern to use up all those little bits of yarn that you can’t let yourself throw away because well <em>there’s got to be some use for them</em>. Dive into your stash, pull out some pretty colors and get to work!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This bag is not, in any way shape or form, worked in the round. It’s all worked flat, which makes it a great beginner pattern.It’s a simple pattern, without a single purl stitch. It is a great starter pattern because it will give you plenty of time to practice your knit stitch and correct your tension, as well as practice with decreasing and increasing, and picking up stitches. It also gives you a wonderful oppurtunity to play with color that you may already have in your stash! And for you experts out there, it’s a super simple, mindless, tv-watching, carry-on-a-conversation pattern.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So if by any chance you knit, head over <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/designers/grace-ann">HERE</a> and give a little look-see!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
By the way, this is an AWESOME beginner pattern! So if you want to learn, this is the perfect place to start!</div>

So by birthday was this past week and I received the best gift.<br />
<br />
Literally.<br />
<br />
The best gift.<br />
<br />
In the history of ever.<br />
<br />
Take a peek:<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have no words....</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My family could not know me better. Aren't the colors perfectly selected?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, in reality, <em>I</em> picked out the colors. But still.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8tuQuhXI4bePNx8WKhdcVarSOA46nXw7Mm42AjUADIGE8LfBxkt-MZxXJt1DErN1b6eojzLUKnDCP5dLb92iJW1Uh5LXRrC8Jf99j8jkEIZwN-z5aunW4GsCMOufyJXFAf5xeM-QAhy0/s1600/IMAG0426.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8tuQuhXI4bePNx8WKhdcVarSOA46nXw7Mm42AjUADIGE8LfBxkt-MZxXJt1DErN1b6eojzLUKnDCP5dLb92iJW1Uh5LXRrC8Jf99j8jkEIZwN-z5aunW4GsCMOufyJXFAf5xeM-QAhy0/s320/IMAG0426.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
18 balls of <a href="http://www.knitpicks.com/knitting.cfm">Knit Picks</a> most famous yarn, <a href="http://www.knitpicks.com/yarns/Wool_of_the_Andes_Worsted_Yarn__D5420103.html">Wool of the Andes.</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's 100% Peruvian Highland Wool. 110 yards per skein. And it is so wonderfully soft. Not like so-soft-it-slips-off-your-fingers soft, no, more of a OMG-this-is-so-squishy-and-I-need more-of-this-stuff soft.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Does that make sense?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE8egsZ4U1tJc9QzDYBCQmKY5z7C8n-iHAX8pk73x52Cdm0EeY45YJMtn-QBrYeifTiggbzmg3q4T_sOeQODcG6WVQWvVGErL24sZ_JJyprYFeEdT33lfeTJ7cIOOagff1TNfK5-N7lTM/s1600/IMAG0425.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE8egsZ4U1tJc9QzDYBCQmKY5z7C8n-iHAX8pk73x52Cdm0EeY45YJMtn-QBrYeifTiggbzmg3q4T_sOeQODcG6WVQWvVGErL24sZ_JJyprYFeEdT33lfeTJ7cIOOagff1TNfK5-N7lTM/s320/IMAG0425.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Honestly, I love how it's packaged. With the white label, I don't know, it makes me feel like I just got home from a fiber festival and bought some expensive handspun that has left my pocket empty.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Except for the fact that this isn't handspun. Nor is it expensive.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We're talking $2.49 a ball, people.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
*jaw drops*</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Not. Even. Kidding.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you yarnies want to put together the same ensemble, these are the colors I picked. From left to right:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Top row: Red, Rouge, Papaya Heather, Blossom Heather, Conch, Orange</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Middle Row: Caution, Semolina, Green Tea Heather, Avocado, Peapod, Tranquil</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Bottom Row. Wonderland Heather, Marina, Ciel, Haze Heather, Columbine, Fairy Tale</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
What do you think? Were you drooling just as much as I was?</div>

<br />
Alright, so I wouldn't consider myself a super famous blogger, but I certainly am proud of how far I've come. Since starting this blog almost 3 years ago, it has blossomed in ways I never imagined!<br />
So I'm going to share some tricks that I've found have brought me new followers and tons of pageviews.<br />
<br />
♥ Pictures! Let's face it, when you're scrolling through your blogger dashboard for new posts, you end up clicking on the ones with attractive and colorful pictures! Which is why I try to add effects (brightening is my fav!) to my pics to make them more appealing. Aim for at LEAST 1 picture per post.<br />
♥ Link parties! There are plenty of link parties out there. Especially on blogs with tons of followers! Just make sure you choose the BEST pic in your post as your picture on the link list.<br />
♥ A neat background! Okay, I'm obssesed with this step. Either go into your blogger template tab and change it, or there are plenty of sites with free backgrounds. My favorite is:<br />
<a href="http://thecutestblogontheblock.com/category/backgrounds/blogger">The Cutest Blog on the Block</a><br />
It's super simple to add your favorite from one of these sites into your own blog to make it more appealing.<br />
♥ Leave comments! On other's blogs. Also, leave your blog name right below your comment as a sign off, so that whoever is recieving the comment can visit easily. If you're just building your blog, aim for a comment a day on a different blog each day. <br />
♥ Create Patterns! I understand not everyone is cool with this, but if you can come up with a really neat design, and post it on Ravelry, let me tell you, it works wonders!<br />
♥ Submit to be featured! Many blogs have an option to submit to be featured. This can lead to increased pageviews and followers.<br />
♥ Keep ads to a minimum. Unless you're blogging specifically for cash, ads are NOT attractive. They are, at the very least, annoying.<br />
♥ Make sure you post things people want to see. Unless you are using your blog as a diary of sorts, be sure to spice up your posts and vary them to keep people interested.<br />
♥ Try to be consistent. I know, I know, I'm literally the WORST at this, but I'm working on it! And you should too! :)<br />
<br />
I think that's everything! And since, I myself said every post needs a picture, I'll just be random here...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdHVTXyva6TVILGrdP9U4Nay_JGrr7A28pOPYKULlJxVVBfLIfP2eG41RmfvwcgzhyoJA-SmkGJ8mruYbSJKzMpU-B8GrONSaNfOKWqU_cG9ED6Rm8berlirQIe5uaCauvlYi_srB0HfU/s1600/images.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdHVTXyva6TVILGrdP9U4Nay_JGrr7A28pOPYKULlJxVVBfLIfP2eG41RmfvwcgzhyoJA-SmkGJ8mruYbSJKzMpU-B8GrONSaNfOKWqU_cG9ED6Rm8berlirQIe5uaCauvlYi_srB0HfU/s400/images.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Isn't that cool?! Eep! No, I did not do this myself, but now that I mention it, I really should. My trees better watch out... ;)<br />
Enjoy!!<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I used worsted weight yarn and a G hook.<br />
<br />
Ch 203<br />
DC in 4th chain from hook, 1dc in next chain. *2dc in next, 1dc in next* across.<br />
<br />
Ch 3, dc in same stitch, 2dc in each stitch across.<br />
<br />
Finish off.<br />
Ruffle finished!<br />
<br />
Now working on the <span style="color: cyan;">other side of the chain</span>, starting with the first chain space, join yarn with a slip stitch, chain 1, and SC in same stitch. Then SC in next 7 sts. Work a decrease, then SC in next 8 sts, and so on. You should end with a decrease. Finish Off. This helps the scarf "swoop" into a gentle dip.<br />
<br />
Alrighty, now you'll want to mark the 60th SC in from each edge. Does that make sense? You're sort of deviding into thirds (not exactly, the center 'section' <span style="color: cyan;">will be larger than the side sections</span>). If you need clarification, just let me know!<br />
<br />
Then, Join your yarn back into the <span style="color: cyan;">61st</span> stitch (right after your marked stitch), and SC across to the stitch right next to your other stitch marker. Leave the remaining stitches unworked (for now!). You just single crocheted within your <span style="color: cyan;">center</span> section. Remove your markers, they aren't needed anymore :)<br />
<br />
Now Chain 1, turn, and SC down the stitches you just worked. Except when you come to the end, <span style="color: cyan;">don't turn</span> just yet. You're going to pick up a few of your unworked stitches. Go ahead and SC in the next <span style="color: cyan;">6 available SCs from your decrease row</span>. You're 'jumping' down a couple rows to reach these stitches. THEN chain 1 and turn, SC down until you can't anymore, then pick up 6 unworked sts. Ch 1, turn, and repeat again, and again, and again until you don't have any more to pick up. :) And you're finished! Ta-Da! You can also throw in a couple times of picking up 8 sts on each side to make the scarf slightly thinner. If that's the look you're going for, try it out. You're stitch count is going to turn out different, but if you improvise a bit, it all works out! :)<br />
<br />
Here's a graphic to help you get the mental "picture" of what we're doing. Once you can imagine what you're doing, the pattern is super easy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLsHkrpnvF_QhYbF3gBpNaqEI0UveIYcrCGG7zOvhwu8R86JSjdB4nrmGhhuwt04-RIDEHrb3q1FqCczQ_iBrg4QXBPWRF6JVoPxLX1ZFR6eH6hQ2UmxriLi5p0h0kuxghLoeq4XqJJiE/s1600/Ruffle+Graphic.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="187" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLsHkrpnvF_QhYbF3gBpNaqEI0UveIYcrCGG7zOvhwu8R86JSjdB4nrmGhhuwt04-RIDEHrb3q1FqCczQ_iBrg4QXBPWRF6JVoPxLX1ZFR6eH6hQ2UmxriLi5p0h0kuxghLoeq4XqJJiE/s400/Ruffle+Graphic.png" width="400" /></a></div>
See? Essentially, we've built our base, and we're going back and forth, adding stitches with each pass, until we have no more stitches to add.<br />
<br />
That's it! Hope that was somewhat clear!<br />
Enjoy, and let me know if you have questions!<br />
<br />
PS. You are welcome to sell what you make, just don't sell the pattern itself. Thanks!<br />
